TEAM BUILDING 2012

On October 9^th Professional Employer Resources gathered for their annual team building event.  P.E.R values the skills and talents of every employee.  We encourage employers to conduct an analysis of cost incurred from employee turnover verses costs in recognition and team building programs.  You may find some significant savings and increase in productivity when investing in these motivational events.   Team building promotes better communication among employees and gets employees to refocus on their career path.
Employees that are recognized for their hard work tend to be more productive and bring their creative ideas to the front lines.  Most importantly, employees that are happy where they work exude positive energy and are highly motivated which results in outstanding performance. Let’s face it, most employers want team players with a career focus mind.  What are you doing to communicate that to your staff?

2011 Christmas Luncheon

The Ladies at PER were treated to a very nice Christmas Luncheon.

We went to Hannibal's in Winter Park, and ate in the exclusive Wine Cellar of the restaurant.

 There were white elephant gifts galore...

The PER team recently had a teambuilding activity at the EPCOT Food and Wine festival. We had a blast!



Teambuilding is an important part of every company!

Some key benefits of having a teambuilding activity are:

• Communication

• Relationship building

• Building up morale at the office
  
• Joining departments

• dealing with office politics

Things to keep in mind when planning a teambuilding activity:

• The personality of the group and individuals- some members do well with classroom type activities for a teambuilding meeting, some do better with out of office activities.
  
• Age and physical abilities of members- you don't want employees to be fearful of the activity or have to disclose personal information. If you are concerned with challenging team members too much physically, plan something that is psycholocially challenging.
  
• Size of the group- Large groups are best for recreation/ reward type activities. Smaller teams are more effective for exercises that concentrate on developing deeper skill sets.
  
• Budget- The cost of teambuilding events can run from $50 to thousands of dollars per person. Costs depend on location, length of program, type of activity, and whether your vendor is local or out of state. Budget before starting the activity. Keep the budget low enough that you can budget for teambuilding activities in the future.
• Time Allotted- half of day to a full day generally work well. Retreats work well if there is a large need for training or working on communication or brainstorming for the company.
  

To get the most meaningful results from your team:

• Customize the activity so it meets the specific needs of the group and the company.
  
• Be a part of the activity.
