HALLOWEEN SAFETY

Halloween is just days away. Costumes and trick-or-treating are on most people’s mind.

PER would like to share some safety tips to help make the holiday for you, your little ones and your furry friends a fun and enjoyable memory. "We know the best way to avoid danger is to prevent incidents from occurring in the first place by educating our family, friends and Facebook audience."

Safe Trick-or-Treating Tips

1. Walk in groups and/or with a trusted adult.

2. Plan your route ahead of time

3. Bring a flashlight

4. Walk on sidewalks only

5. Make sure your costume does not obstruct your vision

6. Look both ways before crossing the street

7. Don’t walk on peoples lawns and gardens

8. Go to homes that are well lit and NEVER go into anyone’s home

9. If you are treating from your home, make sure your yard and porch is well-lit. Remove any possible trip and fall hazards.

10. Individually wrapped treats and treats low in fat and sugars are appreciated.

11. Secure fido!!! Even the most caring and loving pets can be scared by a costume and attack your trick-or-treater

12. When out driving, take extra care in looking for trick-or-treaters crossing streets.

13. Don’t treat your fury friend to candy. Some ingredients in certain candies are fatal to dogs and cats
